DSDH has two docks and three slipways of which one is covered. The Texel location has one dry-dock.

DSDH’s activities focus on repair and maintenance of medium-sized ships. However, the yard also offers newbuilding facilities. Amongst the clients of DSDH are dredging-, towing-, fishing- and offshore companies as well as the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.

Ship repair and maintenance is not only done at the yard’s premises, but also on-site if a client so desires. Repairs are often executed in cooperation with a broad range of local subcontractors. Most subcontractors have a longstanding relationship with DSDH and have their own office or workshop at the yard.

A striking example is PON Cat, supplier of Caterpillar engines, which recently opened an establishment at Damen Shipyards Den Helder and focuses on the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Offshore industry. Furthermore, the yard houses a number of locally and internationally operating companies offering various services, such as insulation, carpentry, painting, classification, marine electronics and electrical services.

At both locations (Den Helder and Texel) we have warehouse facilities, with spares, tools, ferro-, non ferro materials in stock and steel-, fitting-, machine- shop including cooling- and hydraulic service department.
