Arnold de Bruijn

Sector Manager

After studying Marine Technology at the Delft University of Technology, I worked at Royal IHC for 11 years with great pleasure. In each position I occupied, I worked to improve products and processes and have been active in all phases of the shipbuilding process, from research & development to design, engineering, commissioning and on board measurements. A challenge I always enjoyed while dealing with clients and colleagues was getting all stakeholders on the same page and organising cooperation in a way which ensured that the end result would be greater than the sum of its parts.

As sector manager at Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT), I have continued in the same vein while focusing more on the impact of current and upcoming regulations, policies affecting the shipbuilding sector as a whole, and comprehensive services in the field of innovations. I keep the members informed of developments at a national, European and international level and, together with them, ascertain the resulting opportunities and threats. My background in shipbuilding is highly useful in this work. I am actively committed to promoting the interests of the members and work every day on the development of sound legislation and policy. This allows me to contribute to improving the competitiveness of the Dutch maritime sector.

In addition to my role as Sector Manager, I am the dedicated contact person (Member Advisor) for a number of members.  I am also pleased to support members with any substantive questions or advocacy related to the sector or individual companies on a (regional, national, European and international level).
