Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT) is committed to protecting your privacy. In this privacy policy we will be clear and transparent about the information we are collecting and what we will do with that information. We will do anything to safeguard your privacy and will consequently carefully process your personal data. NMT will always abide by the applicable legislation, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming (AVG) through which it is implemented in the Netherlands.

Processing personal data of members, customers or vendors
NMT processes personal data of members, customers or vendors for the following purposes:
- When you are an NMT member to inform you of, and invite you for membership related events.
- When you purchase NMT products and/or services.
- When you maintain contact with NMT. This could be by phone, but also includes your: contacting NMT by e-mail, filling in contact forms, participating in surveys, logging in into De Clipper, applying for newsletters or contacting NMT via social media.
- For internal analyses to improve processes, develop products and services, and for members’ satisfaction surveys.
- To inform members of (new) products and services, either directly through newsletters, or for instance via social media.

Processing personal data of newsletter subscribers
NMT processes personal data of newsletter subscribers for the following purposes:
- To inform those persons via the general NMT newsletter.
- To inform those persons via news alerts about the areas of interest as personally expressed by the individual involved.
The bases of these personal data are:
- The newsletter registration form.
- The NMT membership registration form.
For the above purposes, NMT is likely to ask the following personal data:
- First name
- Insertion
- Surname
- E-mail address
- Gender
NMT will store your personal data for the purpose of the above goals for the duration of one’s registration.
Processing personal data of prospects, stakeholder-/lobby contacts and/or interested parties
NMT processes personal data of prospects, stakeholder-/lobby contacts and/or interested parties for the following purposes:
- To supply information via newsletters and/or targeted contacting.
- To supply information about sector related topics.
- To issue special invitations for NMT events.
The bases of these personal data are:
- Oral consent, e-mail exchange, a business card having been presented and/or a LinkedIn connection.
For the above purposes, NMT is likely to ask the following personal data:
- First name
- Insertion
- Surname
- Telephone number
- Job title
- E-mail address

NMT will store your personal data for the purpose of the above goals for the duration of the period that NMT will consider you to be a prospect, stakeholder-/lobby contact and/or interested party.
Processing personal data of employees
NMT processes personal data of employees for the following purposes:
- To execute the employment contract.
- Business travel.
The bases of these personal data are:
- The employment contract.
- The rights and obligations deriving from business travel to certain destinations.
For the above purposes, NMT is likely to ask the following personal data:
- First name
- Insertion
- Surname
- Telephone number
- E-mail address
- Date of birth
- Wage details
- Copy of ID
- Citizen service number (BSN-nummer)
- Bank details
NMT will store your personal data for the purpose of the above processing for the duration of one’s employment contract, and thereafter for a maximum 7 years in the financial administration only.
Provision of data to third parties
We may provide third parties with the data that you have given us, if such is necessary for the execution of the aforementioned purposes.
We will never provide personal data to other parties with whom we have no processor agreement in place. We will naturally conclude the necessary agreements with those parties to safeguard the protection of your personal data.
In addition, we will never provide third parties with the data that you have given us, unless such is legally required and allowed.
We may furthermore share personal data with third parties if you have given us written permission.
Within the EU
We will provide parties within the EU with personal data in compliance with the AVG (GDPR) legislation.
Minors
We will only process personal data of minors (persons under the age of 16) following written permission from a parent, carer or a legal representative.
Storage period
NMT will not store personal data any longer than is necessary for the purpose for which they have been submitted, respectively no longer than is legally required.
Security precautions
We have taken the appropriate technical and organisational steps to protect your personal data against unlawful processing. The steps taken by us include that:
- All persons having access to your personal data on behalf of NMT are bound to confidentiality thereof.
- We apply a user name and password policy to all our systems.
- We have pseudonymised personal data and take care of encryption if there is reason to.
- We make back-ups of the personal data in order to be able to retrieve these after a physical or technical incident.
- We regularly test and evaluate our measures.
- Our staff have been informed about the importance of protecting personal data.
