Thecla Bodewes Shipyards secures another order from Vertom for two 7,000 TDW vessels
June 13 2022
Thecla Bodewes Shipyards has been awarded an order for building and delivery of another two 7,000 TDW Diesel-Electric Multi-Purpose Dry Cargo vessels for Vertom, one of the leading international operating shipping companies in the Netherlands. In 2021 the yard already received an order from Vertom for 4 similar vessels.
The LABRAX 7,000 TDW Cargo vessels are especially developed to Vertom’s requirements for providing tailor-made shipping solutions to their clients. During detail engineering, CFD optimization of the hull design has been performed for a fuel-efficient speed-power performance powered by a future proof modular electric propulsion system. The completely box-shaped cargo holds ensure maximum loading flexibility and cargo intake.
“We are proud to have been awarded again the trust by Vertom for these exciting projects,” says CEO Thecla Bodewes. “This second order from Vertom of another two vessels of the LABRAX 7,000 series shows that Thecla Bodewes Shipyards has firmly established as a reputable partner for the design, development and construction of such innovative vessels and we are much looking forward to continuing our highly valued partnership with Vertom.”
The vessels, with a length of 118.60m and breadth of 14.30m, will be developed and constructed at Thecla Bodewes’ shipyard in Kampen the Netherlands, in collaboration with experienced Dutch suppliers and subcontractors. The first of the series of 4 vessels, BN358 “Vertom Patty”, will be launched in Kampen on September 23rd. The delivery of the next vessels in this series is scheduled for 2022 and 2023. The newly contracted vessels 5 & 6 will be competed and delivered in 2024 and 2025.
The four shipyards of the Thecla Bodewes Group have over 300 years of shipbuilding experience and complement each other in design, construction and turn-key delivery of a focused range of ship types for sea and shallow waters: from Shallow water Push boats to complicated state of the art Dredgers and innovative Diesel-Electric Multi-Purpose Dry Cargo vessels.
