Open Innovation Call - Frontrunner project robotisation wind at sea
TKI Offshore Energy, in collaboration with IRO/NMT and Innovation Quarter, has launched an Open Innovation Call focused on reducing labor in offshore wind farm installation and maintenance through automation and robotization. This initiative aims to address workforce shortages and accelerate the energy transition at sea by encouraging innovative projects that make these processes smarter and more efficient.
Smarter Installation and Maintenance Equipment and Vessels
Do you know how the installation and maintenance of offshore wind farms can be made smarter and less labor-intensive? Then here is your chance to further develop your idea. TKI Offshore Energy organizes the open innovation call in collaboration with IRO/NMT and Innovation Quarter: Robotization within Offshore Energy – Smarter Installation and Maintenance Equipment and Vessels.
For this Open Innovation Call, we are seeking projects that reduce the need for labor in the installation and maintenance of offshore renewable energy systems.
Sector Agenda Maritime Manufacturing Industry
In the Sector Agenda Maritime Manufacturing Industry 5 frontrunner projects have been defined. One of this projects is ‘robotisation of offshore wind’ . This Open Innovation Call is closely linked to this frontrunner project and ensures that the Sector Agenda Maritime Manufacturing Industry is aligned with the existing Mission-driven Innovation Programme for the energy transition at sea of TKI Offshore Energy and the Top Sector Energy.
What is this Open Innovation Call aimed at?
For the energy transition, we are short of people to do all the work. Especially at sea. The ambition for large-scale scaling, combined with the limited inflow into technical training and the high turnover in the offshore wind sector are exacerbating the shortage of personnel.
Labor-saving innovations, such as standardization, digitalization, robotization, development of autonomous systems and automation, can reduce the workload of people or ensure a smarter organization of work around the available manpower. These innovations in the Dutch maritime manufacturing industry therefore contribute to a feasible energy transition at sea through labor savings, cost reduction, accelerated rollout and safer working.
