Royal Van der Leun secures contract for 2,300m³ Hopper Dredger
Royal Van der Leun is excited to announce our collaboration with Baggerbedrijf De Boer (Dutch Dredging) and Royal IHC on the construction of the Lesse +, a 2,300m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD). This vessel, an upgrade of the original Lesse delivered in 2019, is designed to meet the latest IMO Tier III - Euro Stage V environmental standards.
Strategic Location in Haiphong, Vietnam
With our factory in Hai Phong, Vietnam, located just a stone’s throw from the construction site,
we are well-positioned to deliver this project efficiently. Our deep-rooted experience in Vietnam
and extensive knowledge of maritime engineering ensure that we can contribute significantly to
the success of this advanced dredger.
Key Features of the Lesse +:
• Enhanced hopper capacity and dredging equipment
• Integration of the IHC Plumigator®, reducing overflow-related issues and optimizing
performance
About the Lesse +
The Lesse + is a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD). This type of vessel is equipped with large
suction pipes that trail along the seabed, allowing the ship to dredge sediment while in motion.
The sediment is collected in a large onboard storage area known as the "hopper." TSHDs like the
Lesse + are particularly well-suited for large-scale dredging projects, such as maintaining
navigational channels, land reclamation, and harbor deepening, making them essential in
modern maritime infrastructure development.
Royal Van der Leun will deliver:
• Electrical drawings
• Cable routing
• Switchboards
• Alarm & Monitoring System
• Cable package and subsystems
Collaborating with Baggerbedrijf De Boer (Dutch Dredging), a prominent company from our
hometown Sliedrecht, and our long-standing partner Royal IHC, is once again an honor.
