Maritieme professionals uit Rotterdam en Schiedam kwamen vrijdag samen tijdens de vijfde (loeihete) editie van de Fieldtrip, een initiatief van Havenbedrijf Rotterdam en de gemeente Schiedam.

Ecowende, the offshore wind farm project of Shell, Eneco and Chubu, last Saturday installed its first wind turbine, approximately 53 kilometres off the coast of IJmuiden. The installation was carried out by Van Oord using the advanced offshore installation vessel Boreas. It marks a historic milestone in the energy transition: a wind farm that sets a new ecological benchmark for offshore wind development in the North Sea.

Shipbuilding's PLM problem has a shipbuilding answer
Ship design does not work the way a car is designed, and the software that manages it should not pretend otherwise. A vessel carries functional systems, spatial zones, manufacturing blocks, and project structures that all describe the same physical object from different angles. Generic product lifecycle management tools, which were designed primarily for automotive and discrete manufacturing, struggle to hold that com-plexity together. This results in data scattered across systems, manual approvals, and teams duplicating work that was already done somewhere else.

De opgaven voor de maritieme sector zijn groot. Schepen worden complexer en verduurzaming vraagt om nieuwe oplossingen. Neem daarbij de internationale concurrentie waarbij de maritieme keten een autonome positie wil innemen. Dat kan alleen als we beter en slimmer digitaal samenwerken.
