Asto Shipyard

Asto Shipyard: to be exact

Raamsdonksveer has traditionally been a village closely associated with shipping. This deep connection with water is evident in the presence of its shipbuilder, Asto Shipyard, which has a rich history. Originating as a machinery factory, the company, named after its founder Anton Stoops, has evolved into a comprehensive maritime enterprise, equipped with all the necessary facilities. While firmly rooted in the Brabant region, the company's core values reflect its international stature: 'to be exact'.

The view from Asto's office is breathtaking. Situated directly on the Bergsche Maas, the shipbuilder enjoys ample space with its own quay, cranes, a drydock, and various other facilities. Consequently, the shipyard has made a name for itself in shipbuilding, outfitting, maintenance, and repair of various types of vessels. Additionally, Asto has historically been involved in the maintenance and repair of bridges, locks, and ferries in the immediate vicinity.

Versatility

The transition from a machinery factory to a versatile shipbuilder occurred primarily in the last two decades. In 2003, they began outfitting various types of inland vessels, including chemical tankers. Later, the company relocated to its current location at the Pontonnier industrial area. Under the leadership of owner Karst van der Wiel, Asto sails its own course, attracting loyal customers from both the domestic and international markets.

Drydock

The drydock, measuring 15 by 35 meters internally and capable of lifting 450 tons, also receives substantial traffic. Vessels can be easily dry-docked there for on-site maintenance and repairs to their bow or stern. Asto's highly skilled team ensures that every job is executed to perfection. With a range of specialties under one roof, this is self-evident.

Innovation

Asto Shipyard demonstrates itself as a progressive company in construction, outfitting, maintenance, and repair, where both human expertise and machinery ensure innovation. Through continuous development in all areas, the shipyard succeeds in securing long-term relationships with its clients, some of whom are now approaching the company for their third or fourth vessel. Undoubtedly, Brabant's hospitality plays a role, but these loyal customers clearly know what they want: Asto Shipyard, to be exact.
