European Metal Recycling BV / EMR
EMR is a leading player in sustainable materials with operations in the Netherlands, the UK, Germany and the US. Its aim is to create a future where the materials we use do not have to be extracted from the planet.
EMR recycles more than 10 million tonnes of metal and plastic every year - from a can to an aircraft carrier. This saves more than 12 million tonnes of CO2 compared to iron production from mined ore. From the Netherlands, port terminals EMR Amsterdam and EMR Rotterdam make a substantial contribution to the total tonnage of iron scrap recycled.
EMR works internationally with industries such as Maritime & Offshore, Automotive and Construction and Demolition, the metal processing industry and government bodies to convert end-of-life materials, including consumer products, vehicles and other materials into valuable raw materials - making the circular economy a reality.
To help the world use its precious resources more sustainably, EMR has committed to operate carbon neutrally by 2040 and have aligned their climate commitments with science to do their part in the fight against climate change. As part of this, they invest heavily in energy productivity, low-carbon and nature-positive technology and the development of innovative new products that help their customers further reduce their CO2 emissions.
