Xeamos launches Zeo-NOx Custom Airless SCR range for superyachts
The experts in exhaust gas emissions at Xeamos have developed an innovative airless SCR solution for superyachts between 30 and 50 metres. The new system responds to requests from yards striving to match engine rooms on existing designs with the requirement to fit IMO Tier III-compliant SCR systems. Dispensing with the need for large and heavy air compressors, this smart extension to the Xeamos range will be unveiled at the METSTRADE show in Amsterdam
Xeamos SCR systems are renowned for ensuring that diesel engines on yachts comply with the IMO Tier III NOx emission standard or above. Leveraging on the Dutch firm’s experience with working on clean air solutions for yards round the world, this latest design supports new builds applying airless SCR for engines in the range from 700 to 2000 kW.
The fact that yards will no longer have to install compressors offers major savings in terms of both weight and space. The compact Xeamos solution can be designed with integrated sound attenuation that is tuned to the engine model. Covering any geometry allowed by the laws of physics, this custom approach to design also includes in- and outlet positions and the reactor housing. Xeamos zero-NOx solutions can be applied to both wet and dry exhaust systems and are MARPOL NTC 2008, IMO III certified, with other certifications possible depending on engine type.
Proven engineering
Designed for harsh marine environments and based on Xeamos’ next-generation v3 controller platform, other key features of this bespoke zero-NOx SCR system include airless urea dosing up to 25 l/h, a 24 VDC power supply, CFD and FEM-aided design and Lloyds Register SSC approval. Suitable for sulphur-containing fuels, the solution can handle exhaust gas temperatures of up to 600°C
