On a location used for shipbuilding since the early twentieth century, the ‘De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum’ yard was opened in 2005. Capitalising on the family experience and passion, and firmly embedded within Feadship, the Makkum yard provides the infrastructure for large yachts.Due to its excellent access to deep water, it is possible to build yachts of more than 120 metres here. The giant 170-metre construction shed includes a massive dry dock. In addition, the highly skilled, experienced craftsmen work simultaneously on the refit and maintenance of one or two Feadships on the shop floor and complete restorations of classic Feadship Yachts.De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum is just a one hour’s drive from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or a 20-minute helicopter ride.
